The Region Veneto is renowned worldwide for its wines and food. Here, even the smallest village hosts a number of Osterias, down-to-earth places in which local food and wines are served with cordiality. However, visiting Osterias does not only mean drinking and eating, as you will also have the chance to meet new people.
A stroll through the streets of the city centre will allow us to put history and cooking together: After feasting your eyes on Bra Square and its marvellous amphitheatre, the Arena, we will walk down Via Mazzini, renowned for its shops; then the tour will get us to Piazza Erbe, the core of the old Roman settlement, a place that has been the heart of Verona’s city life over the centuries, thanks to its lively markets and cafès.
Passing by the quiet streets of the Cathedral District, we will arrive at the river Adige, the second longest river in Italy. Here, the Romans built two cornerstones of the history of Verona: the Roman Theatre and Ponte Pietra.
We will see the Ancient Arena, Juliet's House and visit Piazza delle Erbe. The tour ends by Signori Square and the nearby Arche Scaligere, the historic seat of the Scaligeri family, the most powerful in Verona.
On our path, we will spot several traditional Osterias and restaurants serving excellent local wines and good authentic food from finger delis to bruschetta, salami, risotto, gnocchi, polenta and other famous dishes. You will love Verona and its flavors!
